No no no, it's actually far more complicated than just "nobody's born evil" etc. etc. and has to do more with his upbringing and his knowledge of the world from the point of view of a replaceable commodity because he has no real experience with things like death permanence or filtered emotions. Also, Kaito is an unreliable narrator and his dialogue in that chapter is used only as a "I'm right and you're wrong" gotcha like how Aoyama has done occasionally with Shinichi because he failed the concept known as "your protagonist doesn't always have to be right" but that's discourse for another day.
Also, and this is no offence meant at all, but I hate the "evil robot" trope (especially when it's used for no other purpose than "this robot killed a guy and now he's Bad) because it's built on the idea that if a robot kills a human for any reason that they're immediately evil and that in and of itself fails to recognize how beautifully complex AI systems are because they're based on their creator species and how, even in humans, mental processes differ drastically from person to person so it's not fair to hold a single, unmovable moral standard to robots that don't take into account the vast spectrum of emotions that humans themselves feel that differ from one another.
TL;DR: Treat Kurobot as a character and not as an emotionless robot 2k17
Welcome back TinyTantei! I'm sorry, but this made me laugh xD Don't worry, we've all had moments like that. Maybe we should make a thread of random stupid/clumsy/embarrassing things that have happened to us. That could be fun
I'm with you! I've always liked RoboKaito as a character and see a lot of potential in him (first time I've hear of him as Kurobot, for a moment I had no idea whom you were talking lol), plus it's basically an evil Kid with sci-fy abilities, the concept is cool. Too bad it didn't make it on the anime. Vol.2 ch.9 (I am the Master) is another one that I love (just because Kid gets in quite in a lot of trouble and is more humane), but at least we got Green Dream like Mikau says. I think a lot of people like that one, me included, so I'm glad it made it
OKAY BUT ACTUALLY I'm at work so I don't have the time right now but later I could do an entire rant/essay about why Kurobot actually ISN'T inherently evil and why his sense of morality actually isn't as flawed as people think it is and he's just uneducated because, you know, he's a robot and thinks by robot morals instead of by human morals which is WHY KAITO, SPECIFICALLY, THINKS THAT HE'S EVIL IN THE FIRST PLACE.
Yeah, bad title is a bad reference to a bad meme, sorry.
ANYWAYS, this is actually TinyTantei under a new account because I'm a MORON who FORGOT their LOGIN DETAILS. I made an oopsie and logged out and, well, I kind of lost everything. I'll try later to recover the email I used for the account, but, well, c'est la vie for now, I guess.
For people who don't know me, yo, I'm Kiril/Tiny/whatever you want to call me. I'm on FFN as Gallifreyan Annihilator and on AO3 as 56leon, but my DCMK pseud is Tiny Tantei. I think my most popular fic is Words Without Voices? I don't really know, and tbh I don't write for KaiShin anymore anyways so it's no skin off my back.
I love Kurobot and don't talk to me about him unless you want a massive rant about how Aoyama Gosho-sensei threw away a Good Thing (tm) by not expanding on him more than a single chapter that ended with a robot having an existential crisis and dying before his time. Actually, please just talk to me about him in general. I love Kurobot. He deserved better.
Current big project: a 100+1 theme challenge in which Kurobot is reassembled and attempts to start a life where he can exist without being just a "copy" because he deserved better.
Talk to me and ask me stuff because I'm a loser who needs constant validation in my life to make my existence feel meaningful.
NewUserNamesAreHard: I almost bought a sports car today... and I'm 97% certain I wouldn't have regretted it tomorrow. But I'm only 60% certain I wouldn't regret it a month from now when I would have had to make the first payment.

kkrazy256: With the amount of money I currently have, I wouldn't even be able to consider it, much less regret anything. Sports cars ARE hard to resist ahaha. What type were you looking at?
Aug 7, 2017 20:52:09 GMT
NewUserNamesAreHard: I was looking at the Nissan 370Z. It's a lot of engine for the price tag, but I was supposed to be looking at a Honda Civic.

kkrazy256: Very nice and also double the price loll

Kiril: when you planned to enter a comp but ended up sleeping for three days straight
Aug 11, 2017 21:50:09 GMT
NewUserNamesAreHard: Somehow both seem like they would have been good uses of your time.
Aug 12, 2017 4:12:55 GMT
Kiril: Nah, I only slept to avoid my parents. Coming to town is always a bad idea, so I stay holed up in my room so they won't yell at me for god knows what reasons. Half of that time, I'm so bored that I just fall asleep. It's a bummer.

sgamer82: I'ts a long time coming, but I finally have a solid draft of chapter 3 for The Haunted House of Class 2-C ready to go. Sent it over for some beta reading to pick up any major pre-post issues
Aug 12, 2017 16:53:15 GMT
Kiril: seemingly random question, but if kaito could choose any starter pokemon from any region (except for alola), which one would it be and why? I have a reason for this, I swear.
Aug 12, 2017 20:21:24 GMT
Kiril: I was personally thinking Snivy, but I'm still juggling several ideas around.
Aug 12, 2017 20:21:47 GMT
NewUserNamesAreHard: I don't know that much about Pokémon... but Fennekin. The mischievous fox spirit just feel right for Kaito. Plus he has a flare for the dramatic and that seems to mesh with fire time elements... And water Pokémon are out because of his fish phobia.
Aug 12, 2017 21:13:43 GMT
Kiril: I mean, not all water-types are fish, but I get where you're coming from. I ended up going with Turtwig because of other things going on in the fic (and the fact that this particular game is hard with psychic types because a lot of reasons).
Aug 12, 2017 21:16:16 GMT
Kiril: I'm running an IC Nuzlocke and the first Pokemon I caught was a Goldeen.....sorry Kaito, Nuzlocke rules says I can't re-encounter.
Aug 12, 2017 21:17:34 GMT
NewUserNamesAreHard: *Evil giggles* You know, the first thing I thought of when I put Kaito and Pokemon together was Abra -> Kadabra -> Alakazam Its kind of a pity Abra wasn't an option.
Aug 12, 2017 21:23:52 GMT
Kiril: From a gameplay view, Abra's actually a terrible starter, because the only move it knows by level 5 is Teleport, meaning you can't use it. At all. Kaito would be too frustrated with its uselessness to bother training it.
Aug 12, 2017 21:27:54 GMT
NewUserNamesAreHard: See, its details like that I've forgotten since I played who knows how long ago.
Aug 12, 2017 21:31:12 GMT
Kiril: [laughs] I mean, I've been playing both competitively and casually for four years now? I'm aiming to be a PokeTuber, so it doesn't really faze me if somebody doesn't know something. I just assume it's not common knowledge.
Aug 12, 2017 21:36:57 GMT
sgamer82: I always had an OC Pokemon trainer in mind, Fuka, who adored cute pokemon but whose idea of cute involved fangs, scales, and/or the capacity to breathe fire. Her main pokemon was a Gyarados.
Aug 13, 2017 0:35:47 GMT
Addy01: fenniken sounds like a good idea. or a froukie - a non-fish water type pokemon, and is a dark type - all those sneaking around as KID...
Aug 17, 2017 5:48:45 GMT
Addy01: ...or would you count Pikachu as a starter? since technically there's Pokemon yellow
