Nikudou Natsumi: technically it won't make much of a difference
Jul 13, 2017 22:01:23 GMT
Nikudou Natsumi: So my little sister won a goldfish at the carnival a couple days before the fourth of july, except it died after we got the stuff for it, so we decided not to waste all the money so went to the pet store and got a betta fish instead!

Nikudou Natsumi: His name is Sakana, because why not.

Taliya: So apparently in this online game of mine, I have a bf. Who lives in England, and I live in the States. It's friggin' hilarious how he's trying to play this off since he was trying to "protect" me from one of his guild mates.

Taliya: My online life is a regular soap opera right now.

sgamer82: Would it better or worse if it turned into a Spanish soap opera? I hear those can be pretty fun.
Jul 16, 2017 15:48:32 GMT
Taliya: As long as it's not a Korean soap opera. People tend to tragically die in those.
Jul 16, 2017 20:01:50 GMT
Addy01: Or Hong Kong ones. Where the dying is long drawn and painful and still refuses to die after the 100th episode
Jul 17, 2017 0:56:37 GMT
Addy01: My aunt and i spend the entire episode betting when the character is going to (finally) die. Esp since she had abt 5 collapses in the hospital bed in the span of the one hour episode...
Jul 17, 2017 0:58:46 GMT
Addy01: I believe she is still in the hospital..

Mikauzoran: Oh dear. That's a bit much! XD Here's hoping your online life doesn't morph into anything more than a regular American soap, Tal.

Mikauzoran: For reasons, this week I found myself shouting, "Well, he's dead, and all I have left is this stupid scrap of paper!" and then I later thought, "I need to use this line in a story sometime." I feel my grandpa would understand; he too was a writer.
Jul 21, 2017 3:44:44 GMT
Mikauzoran: But isn't it funny the way writers think? Other thoughts this week in the same vein include: "I need to burn something so I can describe the smell." and "I need to go get a Rubik's cube and play with it so I can describe the sound."

NewUserNamesAreHard: You might be a writer when... Everyone in your household has accepted they will be used as human mannequins whenever you are having a hard time discribing a character's position or action.
Jul 21, 2017 5:17:25 GMT
NewUserNamesAreHard: Or you have at least 5 notebooks/memo-pads scattered around your home or office just in case you want to write something down.

Mikauzoran: Check and check.

Mikauzoran: So about an hour outside of Chicago is a magical place called Mitsuwa, a Japanese strip mall with a grocery store, bakery, food court, and bookstore among others. I went over my vacation, and imagine my surprise when I found Magic Kaito volume 5 for sale.
Jul 26, 2017 0:07:40 GMT
Mikauzoran: Apparently it just went on sale this month, possibly making me one of the first people in America to own a copy...unless there was some kind of preorder, and it's not like I can really brag about it since, unaware of its existence, I just stumbled upon it.
